Village Council Reviews Fire/EMS Services

GOLF MANOR, OH (4/26/2021)– Village of Golf Manor Mayor Stefan Densmore has announced that the Village Council is reviewing fire service delivery models to ensure the best, safest and most cost-effective service is provided to the residents of the Village.

Golf Manor joined the Little Miami Joint Fire and Rescue District in January 2018 after being asked by their Board to merge with them in 2015. A feasibility study conducted by the Little Miami District Board of Trustees recommended that Golf Manor should join as a full Member to ensure the long-term stability of the District. Since then, the member communities have continued to evaluate the financial and operational sustainability of operating two fire stations in separate communities that are not physically close to one another.

Golf Manor entered into confidential mediation with the other District Members in March 2020, as required by contract, with the intent to resolve any issues with the current operations and finances and continue membership in the District or find alternative service. Golf Manor continues to negotiate in good faith as part of the mediation process.

Golf Manor has not made any decision to withdraw from the Little Miami Fire District at this time. Village Council will determine if it is in the best interests of Golf Manor residents to withdraw from the District. Until such time, Golf Manor will remain as a participating member, represented by two board members on the District Board of Trustees..

Golf Manor does not plan to make any further statement on future plans until the mediation process has concluded.

Mayor Densmore stated, “Our first priority is always to ensure that our residents and businesses enjoy the same superior fire and emergency medical services they have relied upon for years. Our mission is to provide superior services at the best cost available.”

Village Council will be adding an agenda item to Council meetings moving forward to provide regular updates to the community on the progress of this matter.
