Appointment To Boards & Committee Requests

Application

It takes diverse people of varying backgrounds and opinions to make our Village the great place to live that it’s meant to be. With that in mind, various groups operate in the Village that thrive not only through the work of our elected officials and employees, but also through the work of volunteers who participate through various boards, committees, and projects for the benefit of the Village. Individuals interested in applying for an appointment to any of the opportunities below will be asked to complete and submit this application for consideration.

Here are some great opportunities to which you may apply to volunteer or get involved:

WeTHRIVE – Golf Manor has created our own WeTHRIVE committee and participates with other communities to create a culture of health, safety, and vitality throughout Hamilton County. What started with 50 people in three priority communities in 2009 has expanded to impact more than 300,000 people throughout 28 communities. This still-growing movement, which provides a framework to communities for healthy living, is a result of sustainable thinking from the start. Opportunities are available to join our community navigators in creating awareness and a sense of community. Please contact our Golf Manor WeTHRIVE group at wethrive@golfmanoroh.gov for more information or to get involved.

LSDMC (Local School Decision Making Committee) Representative for Pleasant Ridge Montessori, Cincinnati Public Schools – Pleasant Ridge Montessori (PRM) of the Cincinnati Public Schools is our neighborhood elementary school. Serving on this committee as the LSDMC representative gets you involved as a participant and voice for our community regarding decisions being made for our children attending PRM. Please contact the Village Administrator at info@golfmanoroh.gov if you have an interest in serving.

Boards & Commissions – Council appoints members to various boards and commissions throughout the year, such as the Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Appeals, the Records Commission, the Tax Board of Appeals and various other organizations where resident participation is needed. Please contact the Village Administrator at info@golfmanoroh.gov if you have an interest in serving in any of these capacities.

Council Committees – Limited opportunities are available to be appointed as a resident member on select Council committees to work along side elected officials in providing a resident’s perspective on issues important to our community. Overall, council committees conduct in-depth discussions then make recommendations to Council on various legislative issues. If you have an interest in serving on a committee, please contact the mayor at info@golfmanoroh.gov.

Recreation – The Golf Manor Recreation Commission sponsors and produces great community events throughout the year that are the perfect way for residents to meet neighbors and have some fun. The Recreation Commission conducts a monthly public meeting at 7 pm on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Municipal Building. Volunteering with the Recreation Commission is a great way to get involved in the community, have fun and make new friends. You can volunteer to work a singular event or get as involved as your time permits – it’s up to you. For more information about volunteer opportunities, please contact us by email at: info@golfmanoroh.gov. Please note that this appointment requires a background check due to the nature of working closely with children during planned activities. Please note that this committee is currently not active due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Concerned Citizen’s Resident Action Group – Mentored by the Golf Manor Police Department, the Concerned Citizens group is a resident block watch group composed of individuals in the community who want to make a difference in the Village.  Monthly discussions take place about events in the community and sharing ideas for improving our neighborhood, safety, health and other matters of concern important to residents of the Village.  Committee members are needed to help create and organize programming. They meet in the Municipal Hall at 7 pm on the fourth (4th) Tuesday of each month. Please contact the Village Administrator at info@golfmanoroh.gov if you have an interest in serving as a volunteer. Please note that this committee is currently not active due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Garden Club – Throughout the Spring, Summer and early Fall months, several residents of the Village take an active role in helping our Service Department maintain the appearance of key areas of the Village that are focal points, enhanced through the maintenance and care of landscaping and flower beds. The areas include the Municipal Building, our marquee Village signs, Volunteer Park on Wiehe Road and Memorial Park on Losantiville Avenue. If you have a green thumb and like to dig in the dirt and nurture nature, volunteering with this group may be ideal for you. If interested, please contact the Village Administrator at info@golfmanoroh.gov. We’re also looking for volunteers to help us maintain Chuck Harmon Field, our recreational softball field dedicated to long-time resident and former Cincinnati Reds player Chuck Harmon. Again, if you want to help with our “field of dreams,” let us know.
