Duke Energy Resumes Application Process to Build Central Corridor Pipeline

GOLF MANOR (5/9/2018) – On Friday April 13th, it was reported that Duke Energy submitted supplemental documents to their application to build the Central Corridor Pipeline and requested OPSB to resume approval proceedings on expedited timing.  Duke’s filing was followed by motions from attorneys for NOPE and Hamilton County’s Board of Commissioners.

The current plan, considered the “preferred” route of the pipeline, runs through the Village of Golf Manor’s northwestern industrial area off Section Rd., continues across Losantiville Ave. and down the western corporation line of the Village behind the businesses on Wiehe Rd. We believe the pipeline will be constructed on the City of Cincinnati side of the railroad tracks.

As communities prepare to speak out further against the project, residents are able to participate in making their opinions known through the following methods:

  1. Keep your eye out for surveying or other unusual activities.   Ask your elected officials whether representatives from Duke Energy are working in your community and where. If you see or hear about surveying or other activities, please alert NOPE! (NOPECincy.org@gmail.com).  We want to keep members in the communities informed of what is happening.
  2. Be careful if you are approached to sign any documents.  We encourage you to consult with an attorney who can look out for your interests before you sign any documents.  If you do not have an attorney, contact the Cincinnati Bar Association (513-381-8359).  They are aware of this pipeline project and can provide information about attorneys who can assist you.  NOPE cannot offer legal advice.
  3. Get yourself and your community ready!  Let your friends, neighbors and community leaders know that we should expect an announcement from Duke Energy soon. Watch for information from NOPE! and share it through your communication channels.
  4. You may also file positive or negative comments or questions by sending emails to contactopsb@puco.ohio.gov. Be sure to mention “OPSB case reference # 16-0253-GA-BTX.” Relate your comments to OPSB’s approval criteria which are about need first and safety second. Submit each topic in a separate email.

Previously, Golf Manor has applied to the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) for official “intervener” status so we can speak at OPSB’s public hearings with reference to the Duke Energy Pipeline Project. The Village is also on the record in not being in favor of the project.

Additional information about previous actions taken by the Village regarding this project can be reviewed here.
