Village Council Approves Free Community Library Installations on Residential A Zoned Properties
GOLF MANOR, OH (5/3/2021) – Free Community Libraries are coming to the Village of Golf Manor!
After careful study and recommendation to allow by the Golf Manor Village Planning Commission, Council has approved by Ordinance the installation of “Free Community Libraries” in the Residential A District of the Village.
Prior to adopting this Ordinance, such a structure would have been considered an “accessory structure” and would not have been permitted to be built in close proximity to the sidewalk on any residential property. Ordinance 2021 – 5 allows for Section 1129.03 of the Code of Ordinances to be amended as follows:
“Community Free Libraries as an Accessory Structure are acceptable Accessory Uses in a Residential A District subject to restrictions set forth herein.”
Residents whose properties qualify for installation will be required to register to install such a structure and adhere to the requirements described in the Ordinance. Registration forms are available on the Village website here. Structures may be installed only after registration and will be required to receive an initial inspection by the Code Enforcement Official after installation. An annual inspection by the Code Enforcement Official will be conducted.
The Ordinance takes effect on May 12, 2021. After that time, completed registration forms may be submitted by email to info@golfmanoroh.gov, subject line “Library Registration, or in person at the Municipal Building located at 6450 Wiehe Road. In-person visits to the Municipal Building require social distancing and the wearing of masks covering the nose and mouth.
