Subpoenas Mailed to Taxpayers That Have Not Filed Village Income Tax Returns
GOLF MANOR (9/19/2019) – Approximately 276 administrative subpoenas were mailed on September 19, 2019 to Village taxpayers that have not filed a municipal income tax return for Golf Manor income taxes. Golf Manor tax ordinances require all Golf Manor residents (including those retired), landlords and business owners to file an income tax return each year, on or before April 15th, whether or not tax is due. RITA (Regional Income Tax Agency) collects taxes on behalf of the Village.
All of the taxpayers that will receive the subpoenas were first issued a non-filing notice and were given an opportunity to respond before a subpoena was issued. The subpoena requires an in-person appearance by the taxpayer on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the Golf Manor Municipal Building. Taxpayers receiving the subpoena can avoid the in-person appearance by simply e-filing returns at: www.ritaohio.com, mailing or faxing to RITA the documents listed on the administrative subpoena.
While RITA will make every effort to properly staff the program based upon the number of subpoenas issued, callers may observe wait times that vary throughout the day. Taxpayers who elect not to wait may leave the required tax documents with RITA staff and will be considered in compliance with the subpoena.
Taxpayers with documents related to the subpoena program must mail them directly to RITA at:
Attn: Compliance Department 198
Regional Income Tax Agency
PO BOX 470538
Broadview Heights, OH 44147-0538
or Fax to: 440-922-3510
NOTE: Do not submit documents directly to any of RITA’s offices, to any specific individual at RITA or to any address or fax number that you may use for other RITA correspondence as this will result in a delay processing of the documents and could also result in the taxpayer receiving an unnecessary subpoena.
