Village 4th of July Activities Postponed
GOLF MANOR (6/29/2020) – The Village of Golf Manor announced today that the annual 4th of July Parade & Picnic will be postponed indefinitely due to precautions and restrictions ordered by the Governor during the COVID – 19 pandemic.
Governor Mike DeWine’s current orders prohibit gatherings of more than 10 people with recommended masks and social distancing of 6 ft. per person. This restriction inhibits the Village’s ability to safely conduct and control safeguards at a large-scale picnic in the park. In addition, with the uptick of COVID – 19 infections in Hamilton County, it makes sense to avoid creating a potentially unsafe environment for residents and other individuals in attendance.
The Governor also has an order in place that prohibits large-scale parade events that would cause people to congregate and potentially put participants in a position of compromising their health.
Mayor Stefan Densmore and Village Administrator Ron Hirth have agreed that with all of this in mind, and keeping the safety of our residents, and employees who would interact extensively with the public that day, it is in everyone’s best interest that we postpone this year’s events, both the picnic and parade. We are hoping that restrictions might change significantly enough that we could do something for Labor Day, however we need to see how guidance plays out for outdoor activities in the next couple of months. New infections need to be under control.
The Village will continue to do small-scale events when requested for kids birthdays, etc. as authorized by the Administrator and the Police Chief.
We realize this is disappointing news, however the Village has done such a good job in protecting and informing our residents and keeping our staff safe, now is not the time to sway from that course. We can all take this opportunity to spend a safe, long weekend with our families and keep in mind our police and fire personnel who will be working the holiday. A big thanks to them for all they do!
We will keep you advised if anything changes.
