Fire & EMS Services from Deer Park-Silverton Begin on March 1
GOLF MANOR (2/23/2022) – Services for fire and emergency medical services in the Village of Golf Manor will come from Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire District (DPS) Station 89 starting at 6 AM on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. DPS Chief Denny Meador and the professional men and women of Station 89 will serve the residents of the Golf Manor community.
DPS is no stranger to our community as they have provided mutual aid services to Golf Manor in the past and know the layout of our community, having many existing relationships with a number of our residents. On March 1, Village residents and businesses will receive the same prompt and professional support they have relied upon since the Village was incorporated in 1947. There will be no interruption of fire or emergency medical services during the transition.
Golf Manor Village Council unanimously voted to end the Village’s membership in the Little Miami Joint Fire & Rescue District (LMFR) to be effective March 1, 2022. This decision was made after the Village Administration and Council conducted an extensive 2-year study to evaluate fire protection and emergency medical services provided to the Golf Manor community. The study concluded that the relationship with the LMFR district and the partner communities was not a long-term, sustainable solution for the residents of Golf Manor, either financially or operationally.
Along with the decision to end membership with LMFR, Council authorized and entered into agreement with the Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire District (DPS) to provide the same services to the Village.
Station 47 on Wiehe Road in Golf Manor will close for the time-being. Village Council and the Administration will continue to evaluate sustainable, long-term fire services for the Village for our future needs. When Council announced this study last April, Mayor Stefan Densmore stated, “Our first priority is always to ensure that our residents and businesses enjoy the same superior fire and emergency medical services they have relied upon for years. Our mission is to provide superior services at the best cost available.”
Overall, working with the Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire District is a better solution for the Village and it’s residents at this time. We look forward to forging ahead with a positive relationship with the DPS board, Chief Meador, and the men and women who serve the district so well.
