Sgt. Reed and officers from several departments joined with their four-legged partners to help make the holidays bright for area children. Together, these partners shopped the aisles of Target for gifts for special friends and family.
Shop with a K9 Cop Returns for PRM Students

Santa and his elves got some special help with deliveries on Saturday. Golf Manor Police Sgt. Ryland Reed said he was glad to fill in for Santa and share the joy of the season with students from Pleasant Ridge Montessori Elementary School, golf manor’s neighborhood elementary school.
“This takes us out of our norm and lets us bond with the kids and hear their experience from day to day so it’s just a great time for us. We really enjoy it,” Reed said of the “Shop with a K9 Cop” event.
The officers shopping the aisles are all K9 officers. Their partners have come to law enforcement with the support of the Matt Haverkamp Foundation. Haverkamp was a Golf Manor K9 officer who died on July 15, 2005, as a result of injuries he sustained in a car crash.
Cora Woods helped her dad, Cincinnati K9 Officer Shaun Woods, on this special duty.
“I just like helping people, and I think it’s nice to do this. And I get to do this with my dad. I love getting a chance to help people and it’s special to do this with my dad,” she said.
For these cops and kids, it’s just one day for a few hours, but Reed says the impact lasts a long time.
“I hate to keep saying, but it’s been a difficult year for a lot of kids and families so it means a lot to them. It means a lot for us, and we’re just happy to do it,” Reed said.
