Fraudulent Unemployment Benefit Applications

GOLF MANOR (2/23/2021) —The Village of Golf Manor Police Department has recently taken reports concerning the fraudulent application for Unemployment Benefits. You may become aware of a fraudulent attempt to receive unemployment benefits, in your name, in a variety of ways. In one instance, a resident received a IRS Form 1099, indicating he had received disbursements for unemployment. Another, a Village employee, discovered an attempt had been made to collect benefits in the employee’s name. It was discovered when the Ohio Jobs and Family Services contacted the Village to verify dates with the employer, concerning the fraudulent application for the unemployment benefits.
