Keeping Your Sidewalks Cleared of Ice & Snow

Golf Manor (12/23/2022) – There’s an old tale floating around every year that residents and property owners are not required to maintain the sidewalks surrounding their property after a snow storm. That tale is not true.

Residents, property owners (including landlords), and business owners are required to clear their sidewalks of snow and ice as necessary during the Winter. Golf Manor Ordinance 521.06 requires property owners and occupants of buildings in the Village to keep sidewalks, curbs, and gutters in repair and free from snow, ice or any nuisance (ORC 723.011).

The owner of any multiple family dwelling within the Village is required to remove snow from driveways, parking areas, walkways or common areas within 24 hours after the end of a snowfall.

A violation or failure to comply with this section shall be a minor misdemeanor and each day of such violation shall be a separate offense.
