Grass Clippings & Yard Debris Go in the Trash – Not the Street

GOLF MANOR (4/9/2019) – The Village has received increasing numbers of complaints from residents regarding grass clippings, tree and shrubbery trimmings, yard waste, and trash littering the curbs on our streets. This material accumulates causing a danger to the traveling public, particularly during wet weather,  as well as creates a problem with blocking our storm drainage system. As recent rain events have indicated, we need to ensure that our storm grates are clean and clear of debris.

Village Ordinance 2018-19 prohibits the placement of  yard waste, dead leaves, and trash along or upon any street or alleyway within the Village. It is each property owner’s responsibility to ensure that the curb and street in front of their property remain free of any yard waste or trash regardless of how these materials may have been deposited. These materials need to be placed in the large brown Rumpke garbage bins or placed in paper yard waste bags for collection with your weekly garbage pick-up.

During the Fall, the Village does provide leaf pick-up services where leaves may be raked to the grass berm for collection. Per our Ordinances, leaves are not to be raked into the street or into the curb. It is required that leaves be raked into the grass berm and not into the street. Spewing grass clippings, tree and shrubs trimmings and other yard waste into the gutter can result in getting a citation.

The full text of the Ordinance and penalties for violation can be found here. Grass clippings and yard debris go in the trash – not in the street. We’d really appreciate your help with this!
