A Community Message From the Golf Manor Police Department

GOLF MANOR (4/11/2025) – from the Desk of Captain Ryland Reed

RE: Recent Training Exercises Conducted in Golf Manor

To the Residents of the Village of Golf Manor:

This past week, the Golf Manor Police Department had the privilege of hosting law enforcement professionals from across the country and our region for specialized training in the use of various less-lethal force options, including the controlled use of certain incendiary devices. This training was conducted safely and in accordance with all appropriate protocols, and at no time was the safety of the public at risk.

However, I want to sincerely and humbly apologize for the lack of adequate communication to the public regarding this training. While internal notifications were made, we clearly missed the mark in ensuring our community—especially our neighbors at the Cincinnati Hebrew Day School—were informed ahead of time. I recognize the alarm and concern that the sounds and presence of such training may have caused, and I take full responsibility.

As the individual tasked with overseeing the operations and training efforts of the Golf Manor Police Department, I acknowledge this shortfall and am committed to making meaningful changes moving forward. I am currently working with the Village Administration and other key stakeholders to explore and implement a reliable, efficient mass communication system. This system will allow us to better notify residents about future trainings, community events, or any police activity that could affect your peace of mind.

Please rest assured: your safety and well-being remain our highest priority. The training conducted this past week was essential in preparing officers to use less-lethal options when appropriate, in the interest of preserving life and de-escalating volatile situations.

We are here to serve and protect the Village of Golf Manor. If you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to talk, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can contact me directly at (513) 586-1203—if I’m unavailable, please leave a message and I will return your call promptly. You may also reach me via email at R.Reed@GolfManorOh.Gov.

Thank you for your continued trust and understanding. We value your partnership and will continue striving to keep our community safe, informed, and engaged.

With Respect,
Captain Ryland Reed
Golf Manor Police Department
