2021: Vera/Short Elbrook/West Service Drive/Short Fair Oaks

Vera/Short Elbrook/West Service Drive/Short Fair Oaks

Projected completion in Spring 2022.

Update: (5/28/2022) – The contractor has been diligently working to get the final course of asphalt installed this week. Unfortunately it has been a rainy and stormy week. The street was posted “no parking” by the Golf Manor Police Department through today, Saturday, May 28 at 7 PM. This morning, when the contractor arrived, a large number of vehicles remained parked on the street in violation of the 7 AM – 7 PM “no parking” order. Contractor crews and the Golf Manor Police officers attempted as best as possible to contact the owners and get the vehicles moved. About 12 vehicles had to be towed because the owners did not respond to knocks on the door or were not able to be located. It is important to always observe traffic directions, including parking restrictions, ordered by the police. These decisions to restrict parking are not made lightly and are ordered only when there is a need to serve the good of the greater public. Everyone is best served when we are all alert and working together to accomplish this type of large public works project. Thanks for your compliance.

Update: (5/9/2022) –Vera construction restarted today with the raining of utility holes. The next step is then the final course of asphalt. It is anticipated the project will be complete by the end of May. Painting of light poles and some signage improvements as well as speed humps and final details on the crosswalk will take place after the asphalt is applied.

Update: (3/30/2022) – As the weather improves, the street has been marked by the contractor for any deep repairs needed after the asphalt has settled for the past couple of months.  After that process is complete, the full top coarse of asphalt will be applied and the utility plates and other street access areas will be smooth and level to the street surface. Final restoration of the areas that were disturbed along with  seeding will take place after that. Street calming devices, street markings and painting of the light poles will take place after that.

Update: (3/2/2022) – The weather has started to improve and certain aspects of the project will resume, weather permitting. An crew returned to Vera Ave. yesterday to begin work on the public access/easement walkway. Removal of the steps on the north side of Vera have progressed to grading and forming for concrete walls. We anticipate the walkway being nearly complete by the end of the week.

Update: (2/6/2022) – Work has stopped on this project as we have experienced a significant freezing rain, sleet, and snow event. Underneath the fluffy snow is an accumulation of 2 inches of ice. That all needs to melt away now before work can resume. The contractor has shored up the area but it’s important to note that this is still an active construction zone. Drive carefully, slow down and be considerate when parking. Park off-street in driveways and residential parking lots behind buildings during this time.

Update: (1/20/2022) – Curb replacement is complete along Elbrook, Vera and Fair Oaks. Some detail work needs to be completed and will be as the weather allows. The ramp to the pedestrian walkway from Vera to Farm Acres has been removed to facilitate an ADA accessible curb cut. The entire plane will be replaced with an ADA ramp when the weather breaks. The public right-of-way between the curb and sidewalk remains under construction and will be smoothed out with top soil, seeded, and straw placed down when the project is completed in the Spring. A finish coat of asphalt will be applied in the Spring, which will address the uneven utility access covers. Speed control devices will be added after that.

Update: (12/17/2021) – The first course of asphalt, the base layer, has been installed throughout the project area. Curb replacement continues near Fair Oaks and north of Fair Oaks on Vera. Curb and sidewalk replacement has begun on the west side of short Elbrook. This work will continue as long as the weather remains viable to do the work. The final surface of asphalt will not be installed until the Spring. Improvements have begun on the sidewalk from Vera to Farm Acres to make the walk ADA compliant. Speed humps and crosswalks will be installed after the final course of asphalt has been installed in the Spring.

Update: (11/30/2021) –Today Vera is posted for no parking but not the service drive. Residents should have continuous ingress and egress via the service drive while Vera is posted.  Milling the existing pavement has begun starting with the service drive and will progress to Vera. Signs will be posted at any time residents are not able to park on either Vera, the service drive or Elbrook.

Update: (11/21/2021) – The projected date for the completion of the project was mid-October. This type of project is weather-dependent and the rains we have experienced over the last several weeks have negatively impacted the schedule. With cold weather setting in, it’s likely that the project will not be totally complete until next spring or when the weather breaks.

The contractor is working toward having the intermediate asphalt course installed for Vera by the end of November or first week of December.  It is more than likely that the final surface course will not be placed until the Spring.  If there is a stretch of great weather, and they can get it in, the  contractor will do that. Asphalt is dependent on the correct temperatures for proper installation and the weather will dictate the schedule. Your patience is appreciated as we all look forward to having a quality completed project that will last for many years to come

Update: (8/31/2021) – New water main pipe continues to be installed on short Elbrook, Vera and short Fair Oaks. The pipe is being prepped and sanitized for use as it is being installed. Residents will be notified by GCWW and the contractor when the new water main is activated. When the water main project is completed, crews will start removing and replacing the curb.

Update: (8/5/2021) – Removal of pavement continues on Vera moving east toward Fair Oaks. This phase one of the project is in preparation for the Greater Cincinnati Water Works to replace the water main.

Update: (7/27/2021) – We have been advised by the contractor that removal of pavement for the new water main will begin on north Elbrook on Wednesday, July 28 and continue up Vera until the installation of the main is complete. Fair Oaks from Vera to Losantiville will also be added to this project as a part of the water main replacement. As a result, new curbs and pavement will be installed on this section of road.

Update: (6/11/2021) – The contractor has updated us today confirming that staging for construction including lay out of the water main and storm sewers will take place the week of June 21st with saw cutting starting the week of June 28th. Water main installation will start the week of July 4th.

Update: (5/17/2021) – The Village has been advised by the contractor for the Vera/Elbrook Road project that the start of construction has been delayed until the third week in June. We were anticipating the start to be the week of May 17.  This was a last-minute development that the contractor failed to communicate to the Village. The contractor advised the delay is necessary due to a delay in another project that the crew coming to Golf Manor is experiencing in another project in Hamilton.

The up-side to this is that this will not drag out our project but will in fact compress the time they will be working in the Village. Our project will still be complete by mid-October.

ORIGINAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Golf Manor (5/10/2021) – If you haven’t already heard the good news, Council has approved the project, contracts have been signed, and the construction project to renovate the entire length of Vera Avenue, the western service drive, and Elbrook from Losantiville to the Amberley corporation line (Short Elbrook) is moving ahead full speed.

The scope of the project will include installation of new curbs on Vera and Short Elbrook. Both streets along with the western service drive will be  resurfaced with new pavement. We will also be installing permanent speed control devices (speed humps) as part of the project on Vera and Short Elbrook. In addition, the Greater Cincinnati Water Works will be replacing the water main on both streets as the first phase of the project begins in May 2021.

We will notify residents of specifics of the project as soon as details are worked out in initial construction meetings.

We understand the frustration that goes along with major residential street projects when they occur and apologize in advance for any delays, parking issues, or other inconvenience residents may experience during the project.

The Village of Golf Manor will not directly perform any of the work. Adleta Construction has been awarded the project and will develop the construction schedule and do all of the construction work and traffic/parking management. The contractor, not the Village, will directly notify you of any disruptions in traffic or changes in parking needed as the various phases of the project are carried out. We will need resident cooperation during these important changes in order to allow this project to move along as quickly as possible.

You will be able to stay up-to-date on progress of the project by visiting this page. Information will be will be posted as we get information from the contractor.
