2 Tax Levy Renewals on the November 8 Ballot
Update (11/8/2016): Thanks to all of our residents for passing both Issues 20 and 21 during the November 8 general election. We appreciate your support and confidence!
During this Fall’s general election on November 8, 2016, Golf Manor Village Council has placed the renewal of two existing tax levies on the ballot.
Since both levies are renewals of existing levies, residential property taxes will not increase if the levies are passed.
Issue 20 – Renewal for Operating Expenses
A 2 MILL tax renewal is for the purpose of current operating expenses at a rate which amounts to twenty cents ($0.20) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for five (5) years, commencing in 2016, first due in calendar year 2017.
This levy will allow the Village to provide municipal services to residents including maintenance of infrastructure, parks, greenspace, minor road repair, yard waste collection, and Fall leaf collection services.
Issue 21 – Renewal for Streets & Roads
An 8 MILL tax renewal is for the purpose of resurfacing, repairing, and rebuilding streets and roads at a rate which amounts to eighty cents ($0.80) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for ten (10) years, commencing in 2016, first due in calendar year 2017.
Funds raised by this levy can only be used for street and curb repair and will be used for the street revitalization program and to establish a regular maintenance program to ensure continued good repair of the streets.
Losantiville Avenue is the next major road resurfacing challenge for the Village as our main thoroughfare is due for replacement in 2017. The Village has applied for grants that will require matching funds. The Village will continue to apply for State and Federal grants to supplement the tax dollars used to resurface roads.
Since both levies are renewals of existing levies, residential property taxes will not increase if the levies are passed.
