Residents of Golf Manor are hosting the 2nd Annual Juneteenth celebration!! Food, music, activities, and vendors for everyone. While the event is intended to celebrate the beauty of being Black and recognize the unique challenges faced by Black people in America, EVERYBODY is welcome to attend!! We simply want to strengthen the community; improve overall well-being; and financially empower our local, Black-owned small businesses.
For the inaugural event last year, we proudly registered more than 20 vendors including those selling apparel, art, handmade jewelry & accessories, along with spiritual leaders, financial advisors, mental health educators, reproductive health advocates, and political candidates registering voters. We want to bring together our local community, promote goods and services provided by our Black neighbors, and make everyone aware of resources available to them and organizations here to serve them.
This year, we will expand, supported by the Village of Golf Manor and a partnership with Go! Golf Manor, our neighborhood’s non-profit. As a result, we have funds for advertising and programming.
Given that this is an outdoor event and seating is limited, we encourage you to bring lawn chairs and blankets so that you’re able to stay and enjoy the event comfortably. Additionally, with limited parking, we ask residents (who are willing and able) to walk to Volunteer Park as a courtesy for those who must drive.
Last but not least, we request that you bring the entire family and COME HAVE A FUN TIME!!
