June 2021 COVID-19 Update
By order of the Ohio Legislature the state stopped reporting any pandemic related data after June 2nd, so moving forward I won’t be able to include this as part of the Mayor’s report.
With that said, I’ve invited Hamilton County Health Commissioner Greg Kesterman to come do a COVID debriefing with Council this summer. I’d like to coordinate his visit with a ceremony recognizing healthcare professionals living in Golf Manor, who were on active duty during the pandemic. I will personally thank each one of them and give them a framed copy of the proclamation acknowledging their heroic service to the greater community. I’m asking him to help officiate that ceremony.
- The state of emergency was officially lifted on June 2nd.
- There are still efforts to have a COVID vaccine available for children in September this year. The CDC has reported that, unlike the case for adults and seniors, the COVID-19 virus data indicates that the virus does NOT cause any greater illness in children than the flu. That information has been reported on various media outlets including NPR. The vaccine for children is still looked forward to by many families who given their particular circumstances would benefit from the vaccine.
- Finally, there are still people who are at risk, whose health condition prevents them from receiving the vaccines available and who have thereby been advised to keep wearing a mask.
With that in mind, I can still get disposable masks free of cost for any of our residents who need them. I have additionally directed that the entrances to our mayor’s court, council meetings, and the municipal building in general will continue to offer masks to our visitors through the summer.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any ideas or questions.
This report is respectfully submitted to the residents of Golf Manor. Thank you for the honor of being your Mayor. To our staff and elected officials, thank you for your service to the community.
Stefan Densmore, Mayor, Village of Golf Manor
