Energy Suppliers Are Knocking On Doors
GOLF MANOR (3/1/2021) — There are two times a year when various “energy suppliers” are permitted by the State of Ohio to solicit customers of Duke Energy to buy their “cheaper” gas and electric from alternate suppliers.
Residents of the Village of Golf Manor enjoy the ability to purchase both electric and natural gas at lower rates due to an opt-out aggregation program that Council placed on the ballot in 2014 for voluntary aggregation of both electric and natural gas. The voters passed it overwhelmingly in November 2014.
Since then Golf Manor residents and businesses can get cheaper energy, which today represents some of the lowest electric and natural gas rates that have been offered.
Natural gas is fixed at a price of $0.396 per ccf (and will go lower if it drops) and electric from December 2020 continuing through December 2022, 100% renewable energy, is at a price of 5.19¢ per kWh. More details about the program are on the Village website: https://www.golfmanoroh.gov/aggregation-program/
Note that the Village does not manage the program or sets the rates. If you have questions call the contact numbers that are on the web page.
You will be contacted by folks wanting you to change your energy supplier. They are working on commission. Anyone ringing your doorbell about energy likely is not approved to do that. Don’t show them your bill. Ask to see their solicitation permit and if they don’t have one, regardless of what they say, send them away.
You’ll get lots of mail solicitation too. Read it carefully and compare those rates against what Duke offers and what the aggregation plan offers.
